Understanding check marks: what is checked and what is not

Check marks show individual completed checks. They are neither a rating of the provider nor a guarantee of conduct, quality or a private arrangement.

Which details are checked

Before first publication, the email address and phone number are confirmed. An identity document is reviewed confidentially to confirm adulthood. A short personal recording following a random instruction may be requested only where there is a specific suspicion of forgery. Profile images and permission to use them are checked separately.

There is no automated face recognition. Safety-related decisions are made by people and must be supported by clear reasons.

What happens to evidence

Identity documents and recordings are encrypted and accessible only to the responsible review team. Only the details necessary to record the result and check are retained for longer.

We aim to delete original identity files and any specifically requested recording within 72 hours after the final decision; this is not a statutory or guaranteed deadline. They are kept longer only when this is legally required in a specific case, supported by reasons and limited in time.

When a new check is needed

A changed phone number must be confirmed again. Significant changes to identity details or a substantiated safety report can require another personal check.

Profile details must be confirmed at least every 30 days. The phone number is normally reconfirmed after no more than 90 days. If a required confirmation expires, the profile may be hidden temporarily.

Check marks without false confidence

A check mark stands only for the named step. It cannot be bought and says nothing about whether a particular meeting will happen or meet your expectations.

  • “Identity verified” is not a quality score.
  • “Photos verified” does not mean a complete internet-wide search.
  • “Phone verified” does not mean the provider is always available.
  • A current profile confirmation is not an appointment guarantee.

In short

Check marks help you understand individual controls. They never replace your own attention or respectful direct communication.
